Metal bond grinding wheels are produced when powdered metals or compounds containing cubic boron nitride or diamond are sintered on the wheel, resulting in exceptionally strong tools that maintain shape during rigorous use. In addition, metal bonding extends the life of grinding wheels by reducing the need for repeated dressings and continues being productive longer than market-brand super abrasives.
Metal Bond wheels are meant for high resistance to wear applications and tend to give particularly long life. The higher mechanical stability and thermal load capacity of Sintered Metal Bonds gives them a greater resistance to wear than offered by Resin Bonds. This is utilized especially in connection with grinding tools for profile grinding and machining of materials which exhibit a strong abrading effect, such as glass, ceramics, ferrite etc.
