Cubic boronnitride (CBN) is super abrasive grain with hardness second to diamond and acubic crystal structure. CBN providesuper grinding performance on carbon and alloy steel. Diamond is not useful in grinding steel orferrous alloys because carbon or diamond readily dissolves or reacts withiron. CBN is produced synthetically in ahigh temperature, high pressure process anvil press a process similar tosynthetic diamond production.
